Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating the project schedule to ensure timely execution of works on site. The role coordinates closely with the contractor, project controls, and site management teams to track progress, identify delays, and support decision-making through accurate planning data.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Scheduling
- Prepare, review, and update the project baseline program in line with contract requirements.
- Develop detailed short-term (weekly/monthly) schedules aligned with the master schedule.
- Ensure all activities are logically linked, resource-loaded (when required), and reflect actual site conditions.
2. Progress Monitoring
- Track daily/weekly progress and update the schedule accordingly.
- Verify contractor progress reports and ensure accuracy of reported quantities and status.
- Identify deviations, delays, or risks affecting schedule performance and report them promptly.
3. Reporting
- Prepare weekly/monthly Schedule Progress Reports, including:
- Planned vs. Actual progress
- Critical path analysis
- Key delays and mitigation recommendations
- Provide schedule inputs for dashboards, management reports, and site coordination meetings.
4. Delay & Mitigation Analysis
- Conduct preliminary delay analysis (EOT review support, impact assessments).
- Evaluate contractor’s recovery/mitigation schedules and verify feasibility.
- Track all schedule-related claims and maintain proper documentation.
5. Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with site teams (civil, MEP, procurement, QS) to gather accurate progress data.
- Attend weekly progress meetings and provide planning updates.
- Coordinate with the contractor to ensure schedule alignment with project execution plans.
